Wedding & Reception
The Evening Before

As many of you will already be in Latvia before Saturday, we’d like to invite you for a calm get-together to meet everyone and chat on Friday evening. We’ve booked a cool wine bar near Riga’s city center – the Garage, in the ‘Berga Bazars’ pedestrian area.

The Ceremony

For those who wish to travel with the bus we’ll rent, you only have to make sure that you’re at 11:30am at the meeting point. From then on, and until Sunday afternoon, we’ll take care of everything.

The ceremony will start at 1pm (sharp) at the evangelical church in Suntaži, Ilze’s hometown. It will only be the wedding ceremony, so it shouldn’t last for too long.

After the wedding we’ll all come out to the prairie by the church to take some pictures, exchange flowers and have a bite (and something to drink as well).

The Reception

In Latvia it’s tradition to organize some activities on the day of the wedding, so we’ve left some time between the ceremony and the reception for whatever we can come up with. We’ll give you a more detailed agenda once we arrive at the church.

In Jumurdas Muiža, the rural hotel where we’ll celebrate all together, there are quite a few things to do: it’s by a lake, there’s a sauna in the complex, and it’s surrounded by forest. The plan is to stay until Sunday afternoon to fully enjoy the place, and we’ve taken care of the dinner, bed and breakfast (well, brunch) for everyone. Once we’re there, our best-man and bridesmaid will inform you the possible activities, but you can already think about packing a swimsuit in your luggage, just in case.

For those traveling with the bus, we’ll set a return trip to Riga Sunday mid-afternoon.

The Best-man / The Bridesmaid
You’ll have notice above that we rely a lot on our best-man/bridesmaid couple for the coordination of the activities and the planning (as is traditional in Latvia). Thankfully, we’ve got some of the best there is:
Kike, Miguel’s younger brother, is his best-man and the main contacts for anyone speaking Spanish.
Linda, one of Ilze’s best friends, is her bridesmaid and the main contact for all Latvians.

By the way, they both speak English as well. Their contact info, if you have any question:
